How hold-and-spin works
In a typical hold-and-spin feature, landing a set number of special bonus symbols (often six or more) starts the round. Those symbols lock in place and you receive a small number of respins, commonly three. Each new bonus symbol that lands also locks and resets the respin count. The round ends when the respins run out.
At the end, the values on the locked symbols are added up. Some symbols carry jackpot labels such as mini, minor or major, and filling the whole screen is often linked to the top prize.

Aristocrat's official product pages describe similar Free Games and Hold & Spin mechanics in families such as Lightning Link and Buffalo Link. Those pages are aimed at the US market, so they do not confirm which games are installed in any South Australian venue.
Angle Vale Tavern's homepage names titles including Dragon Train and Year of the Snake, which share the Asian-prosperity theme common to this style, but the venue does not publish how each machine's features work.
Feature vs reality
| Belief | Reality |
|---|---|
| "Lots of bonus symbols means the feature is close." | Each spin is independent; symbols on screen do not predict the next result. |
| "The grand jackpot is achievable." | Filling the screen is designed to be very rare. |
| "Higher bets unlock better features." | Some games tie jackpots or features to bet levels; check the help screen, and never exceed your budget. |
| "These games pay more." | They are subject to the same RTP rules as other machines. |
