Suburbs in the City of Playford
The council area includes Angle Vale, Elizabeth, Smithfield, Munno Para, Davoren Park, Andrews Farm, Virginia and a number of other suburbs and townships. Gaming venues are spread across these centres, with the largest concentration around the Elizabeth and Smithfield areas.
Angle Vale itself has one gaming venue: Angle Vale Tavern on Heaslip Road.
Who regulates gaming venues
Gaming machines in South Australia are regulated by the state, not the council. Consumer and Business Services (CBS) administers liquor and gambling licensing, and a venue must hold a gaming machine licence and gaming machine entitlements to operate pokies.
The CBS register of gaming machine entitlements lists each venue's licence number, approved machines and entitlements held. For Angle Vale Tavern it shows licence 57007312, 40 machines approved and 34 entitlements held (checked 1 October 2026).
Researching a venue: a quick method
- Search the CBS entitlements register by suburb to see which venues hold gaming entitlements.
- Note the number of entitlements held, which is a better guide to machines on the floor than the approval ceiling.
- Check the venue's own website for gaming hours and facilities.
- Plan transport: the Gawler line serves Elizabeth, Smithfield and Munno Para, while Angle Vale relies on route 462 on weekdays.
Local support
Support services are free and confidential. The National Gambling Helpline (1800 858 858) runs 24/7, and Gambling Help Online offers chat and email counselling. Our South Australian support page explains the options, including barring from venues.
